Startup Hooligans started as a Google search with almost no hits. John typed the phrase, found one wild agency, and noticed the name was still mostly empty air.

I didn't find anything, except this crazy agency: https://www.hooligans.co.il/.
Besides that, nearly zero Google hits, so I guess the term startup hooligans is still unused on this planet.

Why an unused name still matters
Brand space fills up. Most two-word collisions are already owned by a podcast, a hoodie drop, or a dead SaaS. When a phrase still returns almost nothing useful, that is signal: the label is free in language, even if a domain registrar later disagrees.
John's point was not a trademark filing. It was namedropping as craft. You hear a phrase that fits the people you work with, you check whether the planet already used it, and you write the find down before someone else paints over it.
What we checked in 2026
The Israeli agency site hooligans.co.il still answered with HTTP 200 when we hit it for this rewrite. For startuphooligans.com, a WHOIS query on 9 September 2026 returned No match for domain "STARTUPHOOLIGANS.COM", and public DNS had no A record (NXDOMAIN). That is a snapshot, not a promise the string stays free to register tomorrow.
Grab lines age badly. The useful part from 2022 is the hunt itself: an unused phrase, one wild agency hit, and the habit of writing the find down. Happy Namedropping still stands.
